Late Evening Surgery
The practice offers extended hours via Better Access from 6.30pm to 9.30pm, one evening per week - the day of the week will vary on a weekly basis. These appointments are for patients who work full-time and cannot get to the surgery during normal working hours.
Please contact the practice for more details on how to book one of these appointments.
The surgery will not be open for telephone calls and visits during these extended hours.
The Out-of-Hours Service - NHS Non-emergency line (111) is available during these times to cover all other services.
‘Care navigation’ for our patients
A new signposting process called ‘Care Navigation’ is being introduced in our GP practice to help you see the right person, in order to get the right care, in the most appropriate place and first time.
When you next phone for an appointment to see your GP, you may be invited to share details of why you think you need to see a GP.
Please be assured that you do not have to share this information if you would prefer not to. It simply helps the practice to better understand your needs and make sure you are seeing the most appropriate professional for your care or treatment.
All our staff take patient confidentiality extremely seriously, therefore any information you share will not be shared with anyone else.
If you do not wish to give this information, you will not be denied an appointment with your GP.
If you have any concerns, please get in touch with us.
Better Access Service
More routine primary care appointments
Catterick Village and Colburn Surgeries are currently participating in the Better Access appointments being offered across the area. Numerous clinics are held in the area throughout the week offering an increased availability for routine appointments for people living in our region. Patients registered at the GP practices across Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby can pre-book a routine primary care appointment between 6.30pm to 8.00pm throughout the week and until noon on Saturdays. These appointments are manned by local GPs, nurse practitioners, physiotherapists and pharmacists. This is not a walk in service so please speak to one of our reception team for more information on how to book these.
When The Surgery Is Closed
When the surgery closes the telephone is switched through to the out-of-hours service, NHS Non emergency line (111). They are a team of doctors who will give advice over the telephone, but will contact the doctor on duty in the area if they feel your call warrants a visit. This system operates an ‘out of hours’ service, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
In case of emergency, again please ring 01748 811475. You will automatically hear a message telling you how to contact the Out of Hours service - they will advise, contact an ambulance for you if necessary or notify the GP on call. If there is an emergency which cannot wait for the doctor’s arrival, then we suggest you dial 999 and ask for the ambulance service.
Emergency Dentist
If you require emergency dental treatment when your dentist is closed, please call the NHS helpline on 0845 600 3249.
